The 4-month mark

It's hard to believe Gillian is already 4 months old (as of tomorrow). She's added several new tricks to her repertoire in the last two weeks, including rolling over. She actually had started rolling from her back onto her side about a month ago, but her big head and lack of motivation to go further kept her from getting all the way onto her tummy. Now, she flips herself violently back and forth and contorts herself into all sorts of positions, mainly to get a better view of the TV (the kid is already an addict!) but also when we try and put her down for the night. She has developed the odd habit of growling and shoving a hand (hers or anyone else's, she's not picky) into her mouth and raking the knuckles across her gums. She's babbling a lot these days -- probably complaining that we don't bathe her enough and that she smells like sour milk. She's also suddenly taking a big interest in the cat, and vice versa. Beaudie likes to smell her toes; Gillian likes to try and pet him. For now, both are happy to leave it at that, but we worry what will happen when Gillian discovers one day how funny it might be to yank his tail.
